Allegations of medical marijuana theft have been made against a former police officer and clinic staff
Helena, Arkansas – Seven former workers at the shop and a former police officer are charged with taking medical marijuana meant for patients.
The Arkansas Alcoholic Beverage Control Enforcement Division claims that seven of the suspects were employed by Helena’s Green Light Dispensary. The police officer from Helena was the seventh suspect.
The suspects “used patient allotments for persons who were elderly, deceased, out of the area, or incarcerated to create fraudulent transactions and illegally obtain medical marijuana,” according to the news release released on Monday, after a protracted investigation.
Additionally, it is alleged that the suspects permitted people without patient cards to enter the dispensary and buy medicinal marijuana under valid patient allocations.
Greg McDaniel was a police officer with the Helena Police Department. He was arrested for supplying a controlled substance, using a communication device, and obtaining drugs by fraud. Since then, he has given up his job.
Allegations of fraudulent drug acquisition have been made against April Jones, Shameka Wright, Gerald W. Jennings, Lauren Delk, Austen Delk, Taylor Perkins, and Demario Rose.
According to ABC, further arrests could be made as the case is still being investigated.
