North Little Rock turns on a 30-acre installation of solar panels
North Little Rock, Arkansas – A significant milestone in North Little Rock’s transition to renewable energy was reached on Wednesday.
The Today’s Power, Inc. (TPI) headquarters off of Industry Drive served as the venue for the Flip the Switch event. Representatives from the North Little Rock Electric Department (NLRED) joined TPI, which is commemorating its tenth anniversary, as they brought a new 5-megawatt solar array online.
When the solar array is finished, it will have 16,000 solar panels spread across 30 acres of land, producing 7 megawatts of energy – enough, according to officials, to power 1,200 households in the NLRED service area.
The project was in line with NLRED’s mission to provide North Little Rock with inexpensive, dependable electricity, according to NLRED General Manager Ryan Wilson.
Wilson stated that this solar array will be very helpful in maintaining reasonable prices and boosting dependability. “Those two factors are crucial for both economic growth and our customers.”
According to TPI General Counsel John Elkins, North Little Rock will gain from the project for the next twenty-five years.
