Texas authorities have detained a Pine Bluff man after an officer-involved incident
Little Rock, Arkansas – On September 2, a Pine Bluff man was taken into custody in Seagoville, Texas, in relation to a gunshot incident involving an officer that transpired more than 11 months prior.
Chaderious Avery, 27, of Pine Bluff, will be extradited back to Pine Bluff and charged with Attempted Capital Murder, Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, Terroristic Act, and Engaging in a Violent Criminal Act, according to a Facebook post from the Pine Bluff Police Department.
In October 2023, Avery and another suspect were involved in an officer-involved shooting event that occurred in Pine Bluff.
Officers indicate that at around 4:22 p.m. on October 5, 2023, gunshots were reported at the parking lot of Camelot Apartments, situated on 4001 Old Warren Road. This information was posted on Facebook the day of the incident.
A patrol car belonging to a Pine Bluff police officer was struck and shot in the vicinity of that address. Although the officer was not shot during the event, he did suffer some minor injuries.
Quantarious Sission was subsequently taken into custody by Pine Bluff Police Department investigators for attempting to kill a police officer.
Sission was discovered and taken into custody by the department together with other agencies close to the Camelot Apartments.
The Arkansas State Police and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office also contributed to the apprehension.
Sission was detained in the Dub Brassell Correctional Facility on four offenses after being booked. These include attempting capital murder, having a firearm in one’s possession, acting in a terrorist capacity, and committing violent crimes.
According to the authorities, Chaderious Avery was also recognized by PBPD detectives as a potential suspect in the officer-involved shooting during the course of their investigation.
Sep. 2: Avery was taken into custody in Seagoville.
