Young people gather to launch the activities for MLK Day
Jonesboro, Arkansas – The NEA Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade Committee held a kickoff event on Sunday evening, January 19, at Jonesboro High School to commemorate the upcoming MLK Day weekend and celebration.
The occasion allows young individuals to showcase their vocal abilities and talents, all while honoring and reflecting on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Patrick Bean, the director of the MLK youth program, emphasized the significance of ensuring that the younger generation comprehends the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“He implemented the changes, and we believe it’s crucial to carry on the legacy,” Bean stated.
“This day is essential; they need to understand what he accomplished, who he was, and they will have the opportunity to engage so that when they grow older, they can recall days like I did in my childhood.”
