The theme for this year’s awareness initiative is “Screen the Search,” focusing on the prevalence of scams through search engines. Entergy Arkansas shared five common scam types and offered tips to help consumers protect themselves:

1. Search Engine Scams: Be wary of fraudulent websites that mimic legitimate ones. Always verify that you are on the official Entergy website or the myEntergy customer portal for any transactions.
2. Cash Transaction App Scams: Avoid using third-party apps like Cash App, Venmo, or Zelle for paying your Entergy bill. Instead, use authorized payment methods available on the official Entergy website.
3. Fake Caller ID Displays: Scammers can manipulate caller ID displays to appear as if they are calling from Entergy. Always independently verify the identity of unknown callers claiming to represent the company.
4. Threats to Disconnect: Entergy never demands immediate payment or threatens to cut off service without prior notice. Any such threats should be regarded as suspicious.
5. False Overpayment Scams: Beware of scammers who claim to refund overpayments on your Entergy bill. Always use verified channels like myEntergy or directly contact Entergy to check your account status.
