Little Rock church continues annual Thanksgiving tradition
Little Rock, Arkansas – In a heartwarming display of community spirit and generosity, St. Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock carried on with their annual Feast of Hope Thanksgiving tradition this Tuesday.
The event, much more than just a meal, offered both food for the body and solace for the soul, especially for those most in need. Attendees were treated to a traditional Thanksgiving feast that included turkey, dressing, and all the familiar trimmings. This gesture of providing a hearty meal reflects the church’s commitment to supporting and nurturing the community.
Church members emphasized the joy and importance of giving. Shirley Williams, one of the members, shared her thoughts on the essence of the event: “It’s something that’s instilled in you, you know if you give back and you love,” she said. “That’s how God blesses you back, by giving back to the people.” Her words capture the spirit of generosity and compassion that motivates the church’s efforts.
In addition to the feast, St. Mark Baptist Church extended its outreach by offering essential items such as sleeping bags and clothing for individuals who are homeless. This aspect of the event highlights the church’s understanding of the broader needs of those facing hardship.
The Feast of Hope is not just a solo endeavor by St. Mark Baptist Church. It represents a collaborative partnership with the Little Rock Chapter of The Links Incorporated and Oak Street Ministries. This collaboration is a testament to the power of community organizations working together to make a significant impact in the lives of those in need.
