Trial for Detective Collins’s accused killer moves forward

Pine Bluff, Arkansas – The Pine Bluff community watches closely as the capital murder trial involving KeShone Smith moves into another week. Smith, the primary suspect, is accused of causing the death of Detective Kevin D. Collins of the Pine Bluff police force.

Back in 2020, Detective Collins lost his life while attempting to deliver an arrest warrant to Smith. The arrest warrant was linked to a separate murder case located in Georgia, for which Smith was the key suspect. However, Smith’s arrest wasn’t an isolated incident. It was a pivotal point in a broader investigation targeting a well-known gang. This in-depth investigation culminated in a staggering 43 arrests related to federal gun and drug trafficking charges in the previous year.

Smith now faces not only capital murder charges for the tragic death of Detective Collins but also stands accused of first-degree battery concerning Officer Ralph Isaac. Additionally, he has two more counts of the same crime.
