The World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Hot Springs, Arkansas, brings people together to celebrate
Hot Springs, Arkansas – For those present during the 21st annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Hot Springs, grand festivities were going on everywhere.
Nearly 30.000 people visited the Spa City, and several very distinguished guests from outside the area also attended.
A committee member for the parade named Bill Solleder described how they consistently draw in a record number of spectators.
“I cannot see the end of the crowds. And it’s deep, too,” Solleder added.
Bridge Street and the adjoining streets in downtown Hot Springs were full of greenery and smiles.
“We had to actually order more barricades this year to handle the crowds,” he described.
Additionally, he stated that on the morning of the march, individuals began to arrive as early as 8:00 a.m.
Among the notable guests at the procession were Forrie J. Smith from Yellowstone, Emmit Smith, a former Dallas Cowboys player, the cheerleaders for the Cowboys, actress Joey Lauren Adams, and even World Armwrestling champion “The Monster” Michael Todd.
People from all throughout the state also attend the event.
“We got to check out like the restaurants and bars and the spa this morning for the bathhouses, so we love it,” said Val Holmes from Fayetteville.
“He got to take his first picture with the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders,” Tori Burks said.
When they took out the tape measurer and measured Bridge Street, they were able to formally declare it the World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 98 feet.
The city’s tourism season is not short, despite the distance.
“It’s one of the biggest weekends in Hot Springs. Spring break is in general. Starting at the beginning of March, we will stay busy through the fall. July, of course, is the biggest month,” Solleder added.
All they can think about right now is doing this again the next year.
“Put the World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade on your bucket list,” he said.
